Michael and Jessica met at Portsmouth Beauty School in 2006.  Each had decided to make a career change, were recent veterans of the restaurant business, and had family history in the salon industry. Because they had much in common and neither were akin to the group of technicolor teenagers fresh out of high school, they hit it off with an instant working friendship.  The duo practiced and studied side by side, bouncing ideas off one another in an effort to master the art of hair color and cutting. They operated together so well, they knew they wanted to continue building on this new found artistic chemistry.

After graduation in 2007, Michael and Jessica were hired together at a local salon. Stationed side by side they continued to learn and grow as stylists.  

This was something special.

In the summer of 2014, after a series of events and the perfect alignment of stars in the sky, it struck Michael and Jessica that it was time for a change. They decided to go out on their own to build a business based on honesty, integrity, and some really darn good hair. 

In science, a chemical reaction is a process that leads to the transformation of one set of chemical substances to another.  At Chemistry, it’s also about the process [the desired outcome, the consultation, the technical skill, the knowledge] that leads to a transformation of your hair through cut, color or style.
